Portrait of Elina Katsman Carli, Classical Pilates instructor

Meet Elina

From ballet injury to a life of teaching movement.

I'm Elina Katsman Carli. I spent decades training as a classical ballet dancer, and after an injury and a long recovery, I discovered that Pilates wasn't just a way to heal — it was a way to understand the body more deeply.

Today I hold a Comprehensive 600-hour Classical Pilates Certification through CPE and a Mat Certification from Power Pilates NYC. I've worked with hundreds of clients — from absolute beginners and postpartum mothers to professional dancers, athletes, and high-performing professionals. My approach is simple: meet you where you are, build from there, and move with care.

Common questions

Curious? Let's talk.

If you can't find your question below, reach out any time. I read every message myself.

I've never done Pilates. Is this for me?
Absolutely. Most of my clients start as complete beginners. Every session is built around where you are today — not where you think you should be.
What is Classical Pilates?
Classical Pilates is the original method developed by Joseph Pilates, taught in a specific order with intention behind every movement. It builds strength, mobility, and awareness in a way that lasts.
Do I need equipment for online classes?
Most classes need only a mat and a small clear space. For any session that uses props, I'll share thoughtful, low-cost recommendations in advance.
I'm recovering from an injury. Can Pilates help?
Yes — with care. I work closely with clients rebuilding after injury and often collaborate with physical therapists. We move gently, patiently, and only where it feels safe.
How often should I practice?
Two to three sessions per week creates meaningful, lasting change. Even one focused session weekly makes a real difference over time.
